On The Web
- National Association for Music Education (NAfME) - As the name suggests, this organization is a great resource for music educators in all areas, from pre-K to college.
- International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE) - Resources for using technological tools to the fullest, and giving students the greatest possible access to the advantages educational technology provides.
- Canvas, a learning management system with a very strong user community--users share not only information but also class material and modules.
Facebook Groups
Music and Music Technology
- Teaching Guitar Workshops - There are many, many, many FB groups devoted to guitar lessons, but this one is specifically targeted at guitar teachers in a classroom environment.
- I Teach Music Technology! - The enthusiasm in their group name alone convinced me to join. Beyond that, though, it has a lot of great discussions on both the philosophical and the practical aspects of music technology instruction in a school setting.
Educational Technology
Both The Teaching Channel and Teach With Tech are groups that I have begun to follow thanks to recommendations from my Digital Learning and Leading classmates, and I have found a lot of useful information and resources.
Follow me at @BryanHarrisJRHS, and not only see what I have to say, but check out the ever-growing list of folks I follow.
Special Shout-Out
All of my classmates in the Digital Learning and Leading program at Lamar University are doing amazing work, and you can see a lot of it in the "I Follow..." section on the right side of this page, but check out the other members of my small group:
